Sports - Hockey
Introduction
The winter season runs from May to September and games are played at the Tuggeranong Hockey Centre and at the world standard National Hockey Centre in Lyneham. Teams compete in the U11, U13, U15 and U18 age groups. Training is after school at Tuggeranong Hockey Centre or at the College.
The summer season is played indoors from October to March at indoor sporting facilities in Woden and Lyneham. Teams compete in the U14, U16 and U18 age groups.
Uniform is the Marist College hockey shirt and PE shorts, hooped (rugby) socks and Marist College tracksuit. Players also need a hockey stick in good condition, appropriate footwear, shin pads and mouth guard. Shin pads and mouth guards are compulsory at training and during games.
We welcome players of all standards. If you have not played hockey before, we will teach you how to play.
Marist hockey players regularly gain selection in ACT representative hockey teams and several have gone on to play for Australia.
Like most junior sporting clubs, Marist Hockey relies on parents and friends of the players to volunteer their time as Committee members and officials, and to assist as required.
