Junior School
From the Head of the Junior School
A Founder's Dream…
![]() |
The founder of the Marist Brothers, St Marcellin Champagnat, taught his Brothers to love and respect children, and to give special attention to the poor, the most ungrateful and the most neglected. He wanted them to spend a great deal of time with young people, and he emphasised simplicity, family spirit and love of work. In welcoming 150 new boys and their families to Marist College this year, Junior School teachers share enthusiastically in this vision of education. Our commitment to the boys in teaching them to become good
Christians and good citizens is made a reality because we: |
At Marist Junior School we strive to build an environment that is affirming for boys. This involves promoting a culture where leadership, success, acceptance of praise, acceptance of authority and respect for tradition are permissible within the peer culture. Boys are also taught to value empathy, sharing, nurturing and a sense of community, as well as the traditional values of strength, loyalty and leadership. It is our conviction that the essential element in strategies for turning peer influence in positive directions is creating a sense that boys belong and are respected and valued. We believe that the boys love coming to Marist College Junior School. They are eager to learn and participate in all aspects of school life. With such a positive foundation, they proceed confidently to their secondary education at Marist. Visitors are always welcome. I and all members of staff look forward to welcoming you to the College.
