Enrichment and Learning Support Philosophy
Enrichment and Learning Support at Marist College is based on Marcellin Champagnat’s belief that each student is unique and has the right to an education which provides him with the opportunity to channel his potential into achievement. At Marist, such an education places a high priority on cultivating a positive attitude to learning and developing skills for living for all ability levels. (Marist Mission Statement)
Enrichment and Learning Support strives to meet the unique educational needs of all the students who seek assistance.

Enrichment and Learning Support Units
Years 7 & 8
Students in Years 7 & 8 study one less subject. They attend Communication Skills instead of one other subject. The replaced subject depends on the individual student’s area of need, interests and abilities.
The Communication Skills program aims to enhance the student’s literacy and numeracy and further develop skills in areas of organisation, note taking, research, written expression and study techniques using the student’s class work, assignments and homework as the basis for lessons.
Years 9 & 10
The following elective is offered as part of the elective subject range on recommendation from the Pastoral Care team:
Communication Skills - developing literacy and numeracy skills using the student’s class work.
Selected students with particular needs are provided with work experience opportunities through the department. This is in addition to the general work experience programme provided to all Year 10 students.
Years 11 & 12
Study Skills (Registered Unit) - assists students in adapting to senior course work across the curriculum
