School Sport Australia Swimming Championships
The School Sport Australia Swimming Championships were held in Melbourne 31 July to 5 August 2011. There were seven Marist boys who competed as members of the ACT team: Nicholas Lawli s (7 Ma), Eli Gatica (7 Mc), Jackson Savage (7 Da), Lachlan Colquhoun (9 Pa), Nathan Seddon (10 Da), Antonoio Badalassi (11 Da) and Sean Maloney (11 Oth). Their selection followed strong performances from each of them at the ACT Championships that were held in May 2011.
All of the boys swam well against strong competition from many of the best age swimmers in Australia, with most posting personal best times in their events. There were some exceptional individual performances at these championships including three of our swimmers winning medals.
Lachlan Colquhoun won a bronze medal in the 15-16 Years 400m Individual Medley and Sean Maloney won gold medals in the 15-16 Years 200m Freestyle, the 15-16 Years 400m Freestyle and the Open 800m Freestyle. He also won a bronze medal in the Open 1500m Freestyle event. Antonio Badalassi won a gold medal for his relay swim, as a member of a combined NSW/ACT multi-disability team.
