2011 Da Vinci Decathlon

Ten challenges. Half a pizza each. Pat McCulloch. A very interesting day indeed. Our three teams went head to head with the best brains of Australia’s schools. Or at least the year 7’s and 8’s of the ACT. We fought through the Engineering Challenge, Art and Poetry, Code Breaking, Games of Strategy, Creative Producers, Forensic Sleuths, Science, Mathematics, General Knowledge and British… sorry apparently it’s English.

After waking up and being instantly frozen in the early morning, we headed to school and hopped on the bus. We made it to Grammar where our three teams split off to their individual tables. These teams were the Year 8’s, Year 7’s and a Mixed Team. Everyone put their thinking caps on and then promptly took them off when we found out hats were not allowed to be worn inside. As we stuck our heads down to work we found out what the word challenge actually meant....
