Peer to peer ministry is key to effective faith formation and is fostered and mentored at the College through a variety of activities and events run by our Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 Youth Ministry teams.
Students are invited to be trained, equipped and mentored in Youth Ministry through several different classes offered in Years 9, 10 and 11.
Senior students are also able to join the Year 11 and 12 Marist Youth Ministry teams, which are voluntary and meet weekly. These students facilitate the Brothers Together program, and also assist with a range of other activities including:
- Ash Wednesday liturgies
- Way of the Cross
- Altar Serving, and
- College Assembly prayer, testimony and drama.
Further Faith Formation Opportunities
Marist offers a variety of Faith Formation opportunities outside the College for our students and Old Boys, ranging from a one off experience, to regular ongoing activities.
- Young Marist gatherings
- Marist Forums in Year 11 and 12
- Archdiocesan Youth Rallies, Camps and Leaders Forums, and
- Catholic Schools Youth Ministry Association (CSYMA) workshops.
Catholic Schools Youth Ministry Association (CSYMA) is an important component of the Religious Education program at Marist and helps to breathe life into the RE curriculum. As a CSYMA member, the College uses its teaching resources, formation opportunities for staff and students, conferences and workshops to enhance the school’s Faith Formation. Membership of CSYMA has also provided valuable networking among Catholic Colleges seeking to develop their Faith Formation opportunities and supports local partnerships between Colleges for outreach opportunities.
