News Time to say goodbye

The College recently marked an important watershed in the lives of the Year 12 boys, for they now have completed their formal lessons and are undertaking their end of year examinations.

It is a poignant moment in the school’s life. For many our families, it is a time of heartfelt mixed emotions, reflective of a touch of sadness as well as a sense of excitement generated by the advent of new challenges, opportunities and experiences that face our young men beyond the familiar school gates.

Their Year 12 Farewell was a wonderful combination of events that was a fitting finale to their years of schooling at the College. With all students involved at one stage or another, the day itself was an important reminder of the strength of the Marist College Canberra community.

A number of speeches on the day rightly commended the Graduating Class for their contribution in all facets of school life. The way in which they conducted themselves in the final week of their school lives was a testament to their character. Many teachers commented on the graduate’s genuine warmth and admiration clearly demonstrated by the way in which they thanked teachers and support staff who guided them on their journey.

Our Year 12 graduates deserve not only our best wishes for their final examinations but our sincere thanks and praise for a job well done. I believe the vast majority of our Graduating Class of 2019 have responded in a very mature fashion to the pressures of their final year and they have led the College in fine style, giving of their best in all their undertakings. In doing so, they have been a credit to themselves and their families.
