A Welcome from Our Headmaster

A Welcome from Our Headmaster

Welcome and thank you for your interest in Marist College Canberra.

Every school, is an expression of hope, where the young learn who they become and how they live. At Marist, we see our role as walking alongside families in the sacred task of raising young men who are not only capable and confident, but also kind, thoughtful and grounded in gospel values that will guide them throughout life.

Over two hundred years ago, the founder of the Marist Brothers, St Marcellin Champagnat, claimed his core work was ‘to produce good Christians and good citizens’. This remains the goal for Marist College Canberra as there are few responsibilities more important than helping our boys grow into men of integrity, generosity and heart.

As an all-boys’ school, we are in a unique position to demonstrate there are many ways to becoming a fine man. We are committed to growing graduates who strive for intellectual rigour and achievement, while also growing into young men who are gentle, compassionate, and loving.

Importantly, we invite your son into a spiritual journey. We want to encourage in him a mature exploration of faith and help them find the right words for his faith, where he can find God in the complexity of the human experience, where the religious journey is an attractive one.

We hope that in discovering more about who we are, you will find a place where your son is known and nurtured, where he can grow, belong and flourish into a young man who will look to the future with audacity and hope.

Welcome to Marist.

Together, We Create Fine Young Men

Since 1968, Marist Canberra has been a part of and had its footprints on the land of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples. As a College, we acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we stand. We pay our respects to them and for their care of the land. May we walk gently and respectfully upon the land. We are, as Marists, an inclusive and welcoming community. We acknowledge that all are created in the image of our loving God and called to live our lives glorifying the Lord. People of all faiths, genders, sexualities, and cultures are therefore welcome and respected equally in the Marist Catholic community.
