Ways to read while away from school

Don’t forget there are a huge number of ways to read while our students are away from school due to online learning.

Our e-Platform for borrowing ebooks and audiobooks

Have a browse through the great books for reading or listening on this platform. There are links off the Library portal page for Senior School students and from Canvas for Junior School students. Students can also download the eplatform app from your app store and search for Marist College Canberra. See our guide to get started here.

Libraries ACT
also has two great options for online reading in Libby and Borrowbox. Now is an excellent time to try these platforms out if you haven’t already.

You can also search for reading treasures at home. Ask your siblings or parents what they are reading, get recommendations from your friends, re-read an old favourite or maybe something that you have been meaning to read and haven’t had time for. Be creative.

to view a video from Reading Australia which features some Australian Young Adult authors talking about reading in lockdown.

Finally, senior students, don’t forget about the excellent resources to support your learning at home that are available from the Library portal page. We subscribe to databases such as EBSCO, Britannica and Facts on File to help with research for your assessment tasks, as well as newspapers and journals, and Clickview for video content.

Alternatively, you can use the Federated Search option in in Oliver to access these materials.

Stay safe and well everyone, and we hope you can escape with some great books.
