Big Brothers Production
BIG BROTHERS PRODUCTION: Year 11 Drama Company THE ONE ACT PLAY THAT GOES WRONG.

As part of their Senor Drama studies, Year 11 students were required to create their own theatre company and direct, design and produce a play. This was a challenging project as students learn about every area of theatre production and realise very quickly that Drama isn’t just about acting.
Students needed to collaborate and decide upon the name of their company, the company logo and mission, production roles, what play they wished to produce and how they will go from “page to stage”.
The selection of The One Act Play That Goes Wrong was an excellent choice as it provides students the opportunity to explore a range of comedic styles and the concept of the “play within the play”. My role was to guide and assist when needed and let students “be in the deep learning hole” and actually leave them in the hole for a while till they worked out how to get out. This is a great way to learn and at times entertaining for me!
The performances took place on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 October the in the Theatrette to sold out audiences! There was much hilarity and the laughter heard throughout the theatre was certainly contagious and uplifting. Much needed in current times.
I am very proud of this class and the way in which the students have taken on this challenge, supported each other and have been brave in their creative choices and play making.
Thank you for supporting Drama and the 2023 Year 11 students.
