Congratulations
Staff members - Liz McGinnis, Andy Lofthouse and John Folan
It is my pleasure to congratulate Liz McGinnis who has been awarded life membership to the Australian History Teachers’ Association for her generous contribution to the teaching profession over many years. Liz will be retiring this year after nearly four decades of service to the teaching profession. This prestigious award is due recognition for a lifetime of commitment to the education of young people.

Andy Lofthouse was also recently recognised for his services to the teaching profession receiving the 2020 DATTA ACT (Design and Technology Teacher Association) Technology Teacher Excellence Award. The Award is the highest accolade given to an outstanding Technology classroom teacher and is presented in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the profession and his students.

It is with much pleasure to congratulate John Folan who was the recipient of the 2020 Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) ACT Excellence in Educational Leadership Award.

ACEL ACT honours those educational leaders who, in the view of their peers, have made a significant contribution to the understanding and practice of educational leadership.
At Marist, John has led curriculum as Dean of Studies for 23 years. His leadership has been characterised by dynamism, consummate professionalism and an eye on educational futures. John has an active engagement with BSSS policy development and has made a significant imprint on the senior learning and teaching culture in the ACT. In a humble and understated way, John has mentored the growth of quality school leaders across the ACT education system.
