From the Head of Junior School
Congratulations
Congratulations to the boys who received their Term 1 Class Captains badges at last week’s year level Junior School assemblies.
We are sure they will all do a fine job in leading their classroom this term and assisting their teachers. Harry Bozic, our 2022 Junior School Captain, led each assembly in prayer and Theo Campton, our 2022 Junior School Vice-Captain, spoke articulately to each assembly about his own beliefs of what being a leader means.
Thank you to Mr McMahon for hosting the assemblies and our Headmaster, Mr Hutchison, for presenting the Term 1 Class Captains with their badges.

Our High Distinction and Distinction winners from the 2021 ICAS competitions were also presented with their Certificates on Friday. Thank you to Mrs Hogan for organising these awards and coordinating the competitions last year.
Head of Junior School Certificates
Congratulations to Harry W, Pascal B, Cyril E and Evan C who received their Head of Junior School Certificates this week.
Afternoons at the Junior School Gate 3
Junior School parents who exit Gate 3 in the afternoon are asked to travel slowly and watch for foot and bike traffic on the footpath from both directions when exiting the College.

Traffic is also required to turn left during peak times to assist with afternoon traffic flow on Marr Street.
Winter Sport
Best wishes to all of our boys who are embarking on their first, or returning to, winter sport, representing the College. Thank you to all of those staff members, past students and parents who have volunteered to coach and manage our many sporting teams. It has certainly been pleasing to see the Junior School boys energised to begin their winter training and grading sessions.
Year 5 Music Immersion Day

Thank you to Mr Schindler and Mr Stenning who ran a successful Immersion Day last week for our initial group of Year 5 boys who are participating in the Year 5 Music Immersion program. More information on the Day can be found below. We are looking forward to all Year 5 boys being involved in the program from Semester Two.
Junior School - After school activities and supervision
Junior School families are reminded that College staff supervision concludes at 3.30pm at the Junior School roundabout.
Junior School students are not permitted to wait around at school after 3.30pm unsupervised.
Boys in Years 4-6 who are needing to stay at school late for any reason, including sports training that begins late, are required to either:
- be collected by a parent/guardian and dropped back to their co-curricular/sport activity/training at the set time, or
- be booked into the Marist After School Program (SASP) for after-hours supervision.
For sports training that begins directly after school, Junior School boys make their way promptly to their dedicated training area where they will be supervised during training by their team coach.
The College Library is not available for Junior School students to attend after school for supervision. The College Library is only open after school for Senior School students, Years 7 – 12.
Grade level Religion Reflections Days
Over the coming three Fridays, each year level will be hosting their Religion Reflection Day.
Years 4 and 6 will focus on their sacramental preparation programs for Eucharist and Confirmation, whilst Year 5 will be engaging with this year’s Marist Schools theme – ‘Dignity for All’ and exploring the sesquicentenary of the Marist Brothers arriving in Australia. Each Reflection Day is inclusive of all students and forms part of the Religion curriculum and assessment program for their respective year level.
Families are reminded they must register their son directly with their Parish Office for him to receive his Sacrament, Eucharist or Confirmation this year.
- Year 6: Friday 4 March – Reflection Day focusing on the Sacrament of Confirmation
- Year 5: Friday 11 March – Reflection Day focusing on the theme ‘Dignity for all’
- Year 4: Friday 18 March – Reflection day focusing on the Sacrament of Eucharist.
