Game Changers Regional Retreat Day

New connections, games and stories were shared at the Game Changers Day in Forbes at Red Bend Catholic College last Friday 1 November. Waking early to make the drive up and back, a small group of Year Seven students were joined by Game Changers mentors Nathan Ahearne and Danielle Hartnett.
Red Bend Catholic College is a coeducational boarding school which is part of the Marist Schools Association, and in attendance were students from years 7 to 9. Run by the Marist Youth Ministry (MYM), the team drew from both the LaValla and Le Rosey tracks to offer engaging and varied activities focused on relationship-building and community.
The goal for the first session was to highlight personal strengths and celebrate the strengths of others, helping the students get to know each other in a fun way. During the second session, students took a moment to reflect on scripture, using a clip from The Chosen that depicts Jesus as a 12-year-old "lost" in the temple, teaching. A powerful story, it reminds students of the importance of trust in God, especially in challenging times. Year 7 Marist student Will Driscol said he ‘appreciated the time away to meet new people and play some fun games. The day was well planned, and I enjoyed the activities.’
Game Changers is part of Marist Youth Ministry (MYM). Led by a mentor, the year level youth groups explore core topics in the Catholic faith of Marist Charism. These include Jesus, Mary, Marcellin, Service, Leadership and Identity. Game Changers is also lots of fun and a great way to foster new friendships.
