Marist Senior Quad Heads to Henley After National Championships Success

Marist College Canberra is proud to announce that our senior rowing quad—Harrison Braithwaite, Garvan Hayes, Mitchell Wadie, and Roland Carter—will soon represent both the College and the nation as they depart for the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta in the United Kingdom.
This exceptional crew is one of only five Australian school crews selected to compete at this renowned international event. Among the selected schools is fellow Canberra representative, Canberra Girls Grammar School, making this a proud moment for the ACT rowing community.
Following their outstanding performance at the Australian National Championships held at Lake Barrington, Tasmania—where they secured the national title in the quad scull event—the Marist Senior crew now turns its focus to competing for the Fawley Challenge Cup at the Henley.
The Henley Royal Regatta is one of the most prestigious events on the international rowing calendar, drawing competitive school and club crews from across the globe and held on the historic River Thames at Henley-on-Thames. Our Senior quad is excited to compete in the Fawley Challenge Cup - Junior Open quadruple scull events (coxless).
The boys will spend the coming week in the United Kingdom, undertaking final preparations and acclimatising to local conditions to ensure they are in peak form ahead of racing. Their journey to this point has been marked by commitment, discipline, and an extraordinary level of teamwork.
We extend our sincere thanks to their dedicated coaches, Tom and Cormac Hayes, whose expert guidance, tireless effort, and strategic preparation have been instrumental in shaping the crew’s success. We also acknowledge with gratitude the support of King's College London Boat Club, the Canberra Rowing Club and The Minerals Council of Australia who have played key roles in the team’s Henley campaign. We thank the ongoing support and commitment of Marist College Rowing Club and community.

As Harrison, Garvan, Mitchell, and Roland prepare to test themselves against some of the world’s best young rowers, our Marist College community stands behind them with pride. We wish them every success and enjoyment as they represent us on the international stage.
Livestreaming of the Henley Royal Regatta will be available via the official event website.
