Rowing Update

Rowing Update

While Marist is busy with winter sports and other extracurricular activities, the Marist Rowing Club Committee have some quick updates to share.

Season 2023/2024

Thank you to all rowers, coaches, families and the committee for a wonderful rowing season. On behalf of the club, we would like to thank the outgoing Captain and Vice-Captain of the boats Charles Carter and Austin Bennie, along with our senior rowers, for their dedication and leadership to the Marist Boat Shed. For those that are graduating this year, good luck boys! There is always a home for you here.

The rowing club is also extremely blessed to have a community willing to commit their time to provide our boys with opportunities to build resilience and achieve great things. This year, a very special thankyou goes out to Peter Bennie for his significant investment as a coach and mentor to many in the club…thanks Pete! We are looking forward to hearing about your bike racing now that you have more time.

Committee Season 2024/2025

Thank you to the 2023/2024 committee for their commitment and support. It was the first season back after a disrupted couple of years and there are a lot of learnings that will be taken from it.

We welcome the returning and new Executive Committee members and wish them well as they begin preparations for Season 2024/2025. Your Executive members are:

President
Jason Augur
Vice President
Marissa Thomas
Treasurer
Chris Miller
Secretary
Collette Harkin
Registrar
Mark Carter
Safety Officer
Candice Augur

We have a significant amount of work to do that builds on last year’s efforts, so if you are interested in contributing to the Club’s growth as a general committee member, please don’t hesitate to reach out to maristrowing@gmail.com and we will be in touch.

Season Planning

ACT Rowing are building momentum with next season’s planning underway so keep an eye out for updates on Enews and the Marist Rowing website!

For our new and returning rowers, although we can’t be on the water, please check out the training tips on the Marist Rowing website training page to prepare for the season opening.

Have a wonderful and restful school holidays and speak to you all in Term 3.

Since 1968, Marist Canberra has been a part of and had its footprints on the land of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples. As a College, we acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we stand. We pay our respects to them and for their care of the land. May we walk gently and respectfully upon the land. We are, as Marists, an inclusive and welcoming community. We acknowledge that all are created in the image of our loving God and called to live our lives glorifying the Lord. People of all faiths, genders, sexualities, and cultures are therefore welcome and respected equally in the Marist Catholic community.
