What's On - 10 September 2025

All parents and sons are invited to a special fundraising event called Constant Kick on Tuesday 21 October from 5.30-7pm on Lindwall Oval. We will be keeping the ball alive for 90 minutes while we raise awareness for mental wellbeing and funds to support HOME in Queanbeyan.

HOME seeks to provide a safe, loving, and long-term home for twenty men and women living with an enduring mental illness who are at risk of homelessness. You can watch a short film about its impact here. 

Tickets are $5 each and include a sausage and drink to keep the energy up.

Claim the Dates - Looking Ahead

Monday 24 November will be our Orientation Day for all new students who have accepted positions in the Junior School to start in 2026. Please note this is a change of date. This will also be the Orientation Day for all current Year 6 Marist students who are continuing their studies in Year 7 at Marist in 2026, as well as those joining the College in Year 7 next year.

Friday 28 November will be our Junior School 2025 Activity Day for students.

Monday 1 December will be our 2025 Junior School Lunch on the Lawn from 1pm until 2.30pm. Parents will be invited to attend this event. Further details will be sent to families in Term 4.

Friday 6 December will be our 2025 Junior School Presentation Day and Farewell Ceremony for Year 6. Midday until 1.30pm in Marcellin Hall. All Junior School families are welcome to attend. Year 6 families are encouraged to attend. Parents of Award winners will be notified in advance.

Junior School Family Service Task

Thank you to the families who have already handed in their Family Service Task bag to the Junior School front office, your generosity is greatly appreciated. Hospital care bags can be dropped to the Junior School front office anytime from now until the end of the term.

Mid-Semester Reporting

Mid-Semester Reports will be available from Monday, 8th September, through the My Marist Portal.

We encourage you to take time to review the report with your son and celebrate his efforts and successes. In addition, assessment folders containing samples of his work will be sent home on Friday, 19 September, providing further insight into his learning journey.

Rostrum Update

Henry Bayada (Year 5) who won his Rostrum Semi Final and now progresses to the ACT Grand Final. This will be held on Monday 22 September, at the Performing Arts Centre, Phillip College. Junior School Students and families who would like to support Henry are warmly invited to attend; we ask that students attending are dressed in full winter school uniform.

Get ready for this year's Little Brothers Production, with students from Years 4–9 teaming up with St Clare’s and Merici College to present the hit musical Bugsy Malone!

Mobsters, showgirls, and dreamers fill the stage as rival bosses Fat Sam and Dandy Dan go head-to-head. The pies are flying, the splurge guns are loaded, and only Bugsy, a penniless boxer with a big heart, might be able to save the day.

Fast, funny and full of chaos, this noir spoof is guaranteed to entertain with music, mayhem, and plenty of laughs.

The talented Year 11 drama class have been working hard and rehearsing to produce this year's Senior Drama Production of 'Dead Poets Society’. The play is based on the 1989 film of the same name, and has been adapted for the stage by the wonderful Ms Johnson. If you’ve seen the film and fell in love with this the story and memorable characters, this production is definitely something you should come and experience! Please note, the production is not suitable for young audiences due to its mature themes and content.

Want to know more? Step into the halls of Welton Academy, an elite all boys preparatory boarding school with stern classes and sterner rules. With a new English teacher at the school, a group of students find themselves inspired to ‘seize the day’ and rebel against ‘labels’ and the ‘status quo’ and begin to view their studies and their lives from a more meaningful perspective. This 17ThreadsCo production, directed by Loukas Cramer and Eddie Murphy, will hopefully leave you inspired as our charismatic cast aim to have you laughing (and crying) by the time the curtains close.

The performances for this exciting new play will take place from 15 - 17 October in Veritas Theatre. Stay tuned for ticket sales opening soon! We look forward to seeing you there!

Year 4 student Aran Donaghue competed in the US Kids Golf Canberra Local Tournament over the weekend, showcasing his skill and composure over the 9-hole course. Playing in the Under 10 Boys division, Aran delivered an impressive round, shooting a score of 46 to secure first place in his category. 

The Marist Golf Club is extremely proud of Aran’s success. His consistent play and determination highlighted his growing potential as a young golfer. This strong result reflects Aran’s commitment to practice and developing his game. His next challenge will take place on 20th September at the Burns Club Belconnen Golf Club, where he will look to continue his fine form.

Indoor hockey expressions of interest now open

Have you always wanted to try hockey? But couldn’t because it clashed with your winter sport? Why not try indoor hockey over summer – it’s fast paced, skill-based, indoors, no training commitment and a fantastic intro to the game of hockey! It’s also a great way for experienced players to keep their skills fresh in the off-season!

The Marist Hockey Club are currently seeking EOIs (up until Friday 12th of September) for the upcoming indoor season which consists of 10 games, beginning on the 24th of October and finishing in late March 2026. The EOI can be found here: https://forms.gle/w2bFHUbsQvSVXBte8.

Please join us for the Presentation Night to celebrate the 2025 Winter Season on 10 September at 6pm in the Senior School Hall.

All boys should wear their full winter uniform (including blazer). Families are welcome to attend.

Marist College is excited to announce the return of Dragon Boating in Term 4 for the upcoming summer season. Following the success of its introduction last year, this will be the second season in a row that Marist students will take part in this unique and dynamic sport.

We are proud to continue our strong partnership with Canberra Girls Grammar School, with whom we have built a positive relationship through this initiative. Dragon boating offers our students the opportunity to develop teamwork, resilience, and physical endurance in a competitive and enjoyable water-based environment.

Training and racing will commence from Term 4, and we are now looking for interested students to join the squad. If you would like your son to be involved or simply wish to find out more about the activity, please contact Mr Yat-Ho Lai at yatholai@mcc.act.edu.au.
