On Tuesday 26 August, at 6pm we will have The ThinkUKnow program at Marist to present to our parents. Run by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), TUK is an essential resource for parents navigating the digital world with their children. Offering free, evidence-based presentations, it empowers parents with the knowledge to keep kids safe online. The program covers topics such as social media use, privacy, and cyberbullying. By attending, parents gain practical tools to have open, informed conversations with their children about online safety. In a rapidly changing digital landscape, ThinkUKnow equips families to make smart, safe choices—making it a vital step in protecting young people from online harm and exploitation. Information to register for this event will be available for parents in the near future.
On Tuesday 19 August the Year 8 band will be performing for Year 4 students in period 6.
Thursday 21 August the Year 8 band will be performing for Year 5 students in period 6.

With over 2.9 million Australians living below the poverty line, including over half a million children, your support of the Vinnies Winter Appeal will provide much needed immediate help to people in our community. This year, we are again asking members of the Marist Community to join us in making a difference to peoples’ lives by making donations of warm blankets, jumpers, socks, gloves and other winter-related clothing that are new or in very good condition. We are also asking for non-perishable food and any hygiene related items, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant.
These items can be donated to your House Deans’ offices until Friday 29 August.
The Marist Association is seeking expressions of interest from staff, families, and friends who would like to host a stall at our Christmas Night Market, taking place at Rodney’s Plants Plus in November 2025.
If you sell products, arts, crafts, or packaged foods, we’d love to hear from you!
To get involved, please contact Brendan Bergin at brendanbergin@mcc.act.edu.au by 31 August 2025.

Futsal
Congratulations to Josh O’Mahony who travelled to Guangzhou, China between 21 July until 3 August with the Australian Futsal Association to represent Australia in the U/13 Boys squad. His squad played 8 games against local teams, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament. His role as goalkeeper saw numerous challenges, including extreme heat and humidity and language barriers. He immersed himself in Chinese culture and brings home a lifetime of friendships and memories.
Swimming
Congratulations to our Marist swimmers who represented the ACT at the 2025 13–19 Years School Sport Australia Swimming Championships in Brisbane:
Indy (Year 12), Luqman (Year 10), William (Year 10), Jovern (Year 9), Lucas, Tom, Eamon and Kai (Year 8).
The team delivered outstanding performances, with multiple personal bests, top ten finishes and medals, while showing incredible team spirit throughout the competition.
Medal highlights:
You should be extremely proud of such wonderful achievements. Well done to you all!

Boys can wear comfortable clothes suitable for training - it does not need to be Marist uniform.
