We warmly invite all fathers, grandfathers, and father figures in our community to join us for our annual Father's and Sons Mass. This special celebration will take place in the Senior Hall at the College on Thursday 4 September 2025, beginning at 8:30am.
Following the Mass, guests are invited to stay and enjoy morning tea with other fathers. We look forward to celebrating the important role of fatherhood in our Marist community.
Please RSVP for the Mass here.
Those boys making their retreat at MHOC will be attending their Retreat Day this Thursday. Boys will meet Mrs Bell at school at the start of Period 1.
At the conclusion of the day, Marist boys need to be collected from the MHOC church between 3pm and 3.30pm.
Our Year 4 students and staff will venture off to Wagga next Monday 1 September. Families are reminded to be at school on Monday morning between 6.45 and 7am.
The buses will return on Tuesday afternoon after 4pm. Parents are asked not to park in the bus bays on either day.
Thank you to the families who have already handed in their Family Service Task bag to the Junior School front office, your generosity is greatly appreciated. Hospital care bags can be dropped to the Junior School front office anytime from now until the end of the term.
Why are we creating Hospital Care bags to assist First Nations males?
Due to many of our First Nations rural communities in Australia being remote, an unexpected trip to the hospital (often by the Royal Flying Doctor service) can result in many people arriving in hospital without the basic necessities we take with us should we have a planned hospital visit.
Marist College is partnering with NATSICC to donate men's toiletry/hospital bags to assist in these situations. Other schools and groups partner with NATSICC to build and donate hospital bags for females.
By participating, your son will be earning time towards his MATES hours.
Grandparents/Grand friends of our current Year 4 boys are warmly invited to a special Grandparents morning with their grandson on Friday 5 September.
During this time, we will gather for prayer and an assembly, then the boys will share their schoolwork and morning tea with their grandparents and enjoy a walking tour of the College. Further details about this event and the link for registration have been sent directly to our Year 4 families.
A/Prof Michael Nagel explores the gap between what science tells us about adolescence and how it’s portrayed in popular culture. He contrasts the real, research-based traits of the developing teen brain—such as emotional intensity and impulsivity—with the exaggerated, often negative stereotypes seen in media. A/Prof Nagel helps us understand why teens act the way they do and offers practical strategies for responding with empathy and structure.
Dr Michael Nagel is an Associate Professor, Teacher and Academic at a leading Queensland university in the areas of cognition and learning, human development and early learning, neurological development in children & adolescent psychology and is regarded as one of Australia’s foremost experts in child development.

With over 2.9 million Australians living below the poverty line, including over half a million children, your support of the Vinnies Winter Appeal will provide much needed immediate help to people in our community. This year, we are again asking members of the Marist Community to join us in making a difference to peoples’ lives by making donations of warm blankets, jumpers, socks, gloves and other winter-related clothing that are new or in very good condition. We are also asking for non-perishable food and any hygiene related items, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant.
These items can be donated to your House Deans’ offices until Friday 29 August.
Get ready for this year's Little Brothers Production, with students from Years 4–9 teaming up with St Clare’s and Merici College to present the hit musical Bugsy Malone!
Mobsters, showgirls, and dreamers fill the stage as rival bosses Fat Sam and Dandy Dan go head-to-head. The pies are flying, the splurge guns are loaded, and only Bugsy, a penniless boxer with a big heart, might be able to save the day.
Fast, funny and full of chaos, this noir spoof is guaranteed to entertain with music, mayhem, and plenty of laughs.

The talented Year 11 drama class have been working hard and rehearsing to produce this year's Senior Drama Production of 'Dead Poets Society’. The play is based on the 1989 film of the same name, and has been adapted for the stage by the wonderful Ms Johnson. If you’ve seen the film and fell in love with this the story and memorable characters, this production is definitely something you should come and experience! Please note, the production is not suitable for young audiences due to its mature themes and content.
Want to know more? Step into the halls of Welton Academy, an elite all boys preparatory boarding school with stern classes and sterner rules. With a new English teacher at the school, a group of students find themselves inspired to ‘seize the day’ and rebel against ‘labels’ and the ‘status quo’ and begin to view their studies and their lives from a more meaningful perspective. This 17ThreadsCo production, directed by Loukas Cramer and Eddie Murphy, will hopefully leave you inspired as our charismatic cast aim to have you laughing (and crying) by the time the curtains close.
The performances for this exciting new play will take place from 15 - 17 October in Veritas Theatre. Stay tuned for ticket sales opening soon! We look forward to seeing you there!
Thank you in advance for your support.

The Marist Snowsports Team competed in the ACT Schools Cup on Sunday 24 August coming 2nd overall which was a great result! The boys raced in the Alpine discipline and achieved some excellent times. Stand out performances came Max Juric, Seb Galang, Mikah Zachara, Olliver Reed and Bill Kibbey all of whom were able to secure a place on the podium. A credit to Max Juric for only needing the one run to secure victory after being disqualified for leaving the gates with only one ski on! It was a fantastic day on snow and I'm very proud of all the boys and being able to witness their racing development.
I wish the following boys the best of luck when they compete at Nationals in early September and am looking forward to some quality Spring skiing and riding with the team.

Marist College is excited to announce the return of Dragon Boating in Term 4 for the upcoming summer season. Following the success of its introduction last year, this will be the second season in a row that Marist students will take part in this unique and dynamic sport.
We are proud to continue our strong partnership with Canberra Girls Grammar School, with whom we have built a positive relationship through this initiative. Dragon boating offers our students the opportunity to develop teamwork, resilience, and physical endurance in a competitive and enjoyable water-based environment.
Training and racing will commence from Term 4, and we are now looking for interested students to join the squad. If you would like your son to be involved or simply wish to find out more about the activity, please contact Mr Yat-Ho Lai at yatholai@mcc.act.edu.au.
We look forward to another exciting season on the water.
