From the Head of Junior School
Welcome back!
What a wonderful start to the year it has been for our staff and students. The Junior School was buzzing with excitement, a few nerves and many big smiles on Monday as all of our boys arrived back for the start of the 2021 school year.
Our Junior School teachers quickly had their students sorting out their new stationery packs and labelling books for the year ahead. New friendships are being formed in class and during break times as our new students settle in.
As well as welcoming our new students, we also had three new staff members start with us.
Craig McMahon, an Old Boy of the College, will be teaching Year 5 as well as undertaking the important role of Head of Student Wellbeing in the Junior School. Rachael Hogan will also be teaching Year 5 and is our Head of Learning and Teaching for the Junior School.
During Term One, Susan Fittler is enjoying some well-deserved leave and Michael Favreau will be taking our Performing Arts lessons during this time.
This year, our Junior School Library has combined with the Senior School Library so that all of our wonderful resources for the boys are in one place. Our boys will continue to have their library lessons with Mrs Collins and Mrs Simpson. They will also enjoy library borrowing sessions with the College Librarians.
To assist parents with weekly organisation of PE uniforms and returning of College library books, the table below outlines which classes have these lessons each day. Library borrowing sessions will begin in Week 2.

2021 Junior School Co-Curricular opportunities
One of the greatest parts of our College is the rich array of Co-Curricular opportunities that the boys have to choose from. We encourage all boys to choose a co-curricular activity. Marist Sports Club information and registration particulars can be found through the College website. Basketball, Football/soccer, Rowing (Year 6 and above) and Rugby registrations are open and links can be found on their respective club pages.
Junior School recess and lunchtime clubs will be finalised in the coming week and the boys notified at school which days the clubs will run this year. The boys will sign up at school for these directly with the teacher who is coordinating the club.
