Introducing our Youth Ministry Officers for 2020
Meet Aaron and Michael
Aaron Healey
This year I am working as a Youth Minister at Marist College Canberra and at the local parish; Mary Help of Christians. I’m 20 years old and entering my third year studying for a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts at the ANU, with majors in mathematics and philosophy.
In the past few years, I have had a deepening of my childhood Catholic faith. I have become more aware of the beauty, truth, and goodness found in the Christian way of life. This new-found growth in my faith has given me a great desire to share it with others, and the opportunity to work as a Youth Minister was the perfect fulfilment of this.
This year at Marist I will be working with those in Years 4, 5, 6 and 10, helping with the Game Changers program during lunchtime on Wednesdays. I will also be promoting the local youth group, accompanying the students, and working with them in religion classes.
Michael Seselja
I am working as a Youth Ministry Officer (YMO) at Marist this year. This is my third year doing post-school youth ministry. After I graduated from the College in 2017, I spent a gap year doing some youth ministry volunteering in Wollongong and last year worked as a Marist YMO as well as a youth minister at Mary Help of Christians Parish in Pearce. I’ve also helped at youth groups, youth conferences and was a part of the Marist Youth Ministry Team when I was a student here. Apart from youth ministry, I’m studying for a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies/Bachelor of Finance at ANU and love playing soccer and watching the Parramatta Eels.
This year, my main role at Marist will be helping to run the new Game Changers program for Year 7s and 8s on Tuesdays at lunchtime, as well as working with the senior Marist Youth Ministry teams and students in RE classes. I’m looking forward to another great year of youth ministry!
