Welcome Back
It is my pleasure to welcome you back to Term Two in what is a very changed school environment. It is with a deep sense of responsibility to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 that Marist College Canberra will continue to provide online learning until authorities inform us it is safe for our boys and staff to return to school.
Be assured we have conducted extensive research on best practices in online learning, and have created plans that take into account the varied home lives of students and teachers alike. Productivity is important, but we must acknowledge that these are not normal conditions. This means keeping it simple and prioritising the right things. The design of the learning experience, the choice of content, the quality of the questions, and the personalised engagement of the students are the areas we want to focus on the most.
The flexibility of our staff has been extraordinary. As we navigate uncharted waters, it is clear that people are working together, learning from one another, and sharing ideas and resources. As we endeavour to continue online learning, the spirit of genuine collaboration, togetherness, and care for one another that permeates our Marist community has been our best antidote to the uncertainty, stress and fear caused by this pandemic.
